To create her unique wedding illustrations, it’s essential that Astrid first get to know the couple. Using the information she learns, as well as the reference photos they provide, she captures their personalities, love story, and wedding theme in a one of a kind wedding illustration.
2. What are some of the ways in which clients can use the wedding illustrations created for them by Astrid Mueller?
Astrid loves to consult with couples to help them find new and unique ways of using their personal wedding illustration to reflect their taste and style. In addition to stationery, Astrid’s clients can use their illustration to complement their wedding in a number of ways. From a laser-engraved acrylic wedding cake topper and a dance floor light projection to eco-chic seed packet favors and personalized cocktail stirrers for a signature drink, the sky is the limit!

5. Take us through the steps of our working relationship!
Astrid’s commitment to her clients’ happiness means she communicates with them every step of the way!
To visualize ideas for the couple’s illustration and how it could be implemented into the celebration, Astrid usually starts with design concepts. After the customers choose their favorite direction, she begins by creating the illustration(s) for the couple, starting with sketches, then fine-tuning all details. Next, she designs the stationery items, design elements, and keepsakes the couple commissioned Astrid for. If the bride and groom work with a wedding designer, Astrid loves to support the design team, developing further stunning ideas of how to incorporate the couple’s design into their celebration.
For each item, she involves her customers in every step of the way, making sure that they are in love with all details. Finally, Astrid creates production-ready previews, and if possible actual samples, so that the couple may review the artwork before anything is produced.
6. Do couples own the illustration or does Astrid Mueller retain the rights?
The client receives full rights to use the illustration for their wedding and for their own personal use after the wedding. However, Astrid reserves the right to show the illustration as a reference in her portfolio and, with the couple’s approval, for marketing purposes.
7. Are couples consulted on the paper stock and ink?
Astrid is always available to answer questions or discuss ideas to ensure her client’s stationery is just what they dreamed of! With her client’s wishes always in mind, Astrid suggests stock and production methods that perfectly suit their wedding style.
8. What will Astrid Mueller need to know from her clients before getting started?
All about the couple – who they are, what’s important to them, what inspires them, and how they envision their dream wedding! The more she learns, the better equipped she is to design an illustration infused with their character and as one of a kind as they are.

10. Where can couples purchase Astrid Mueller stationery if they aren’t hiring her for a custom design?
For the time being, Astrid is available to create her romantic wedding illustrations for only a small number of clients each year. To make her designs more accessible, she is currently working on a wedding stationery collection that will be available in select retail boutiques.
